New Dr Who Companion Announced

Announced today, Whovians everywhere can look forward to Pearl Mackie running around with The Doctor in 2017.

During half time of the FA Cup semi-final between Manchester United and Everton, BBC One made a special broadcast announcement with the usual hype and fanfare we’ve come to expect. The chosen companion will come as no surprise to fans as she was previously tipped as a potential successor to Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald – the “Impossible Girl”).

There was much speculation about Mackia being the front-runner to become The Doctor’s new companion after eagle-eyed fans noticed she had recently followed both Jenna Coleman and Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones), on Twitter. It’s possible that Mackie nay gave been looking for advice on how to deal with the pressures of being The Doctor’s companion, and all that comes with the role.

Mackie is currently performing in the National Theatre’s Olivier and Tony award-winning production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time’. She has also appeared on the BBC soap “Doctors” and it she clearly has the potential to be a great companion.

Like everyone else, we’re eager to see how she handles her new role as Bill in 2017.
