Cinema Eclectica 119 – The Superheroes’ Fountain of Eternal Youth

This week all of your questions will be answered. What films did Aidan and Ryan enjoy at the Edinburgh Film Festival? Who is the nicest carjacker? Which Clint Eastwood film is a secret remake of a dodgy ITV sitcom?

That last one has some context (kind of), as our Film of the Week is Michael Cimino’s debut feature “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”. Aside from that it’s a plethora of new releases with Bong Joon-Ho’s “Okja” from Netflix, Ceyda Torun’s “Kedi” from Youtube, and, erm, Edgar Wright’s “Baby Driver” from Sony TriStar (come on granddad, get with the new school).

After that it’s a trip to the beginning of Michael Cimino’s career, which it turns out is just a couple of films before the end.

Co-founder of The Geek Show Podcast Network. Chief Editor and Executive Producer of, and tangentially overburdened host/co-presenter of several shows on the network. When I'm not engaged in production, journalistic shenanigans or the quagmire that is media criticism I watch movies, interesting TV shows and anime, I also enjoy the arts (you know, classical music and stuff), write many, many things, play and collect a lot of video games, read lots of manga, comics and books, and generally enjoy wallowing in the mass of entertainment media like a hippo in mud. I can also cook.
