Cinema Eclectica 138 – Brought To You By Vague Existential Despair

It might be Justice League week at the cinemas, but Off the Shelf sees us assembling an international super-team of maverick auteurs.

While Rob heads to Japan for Sion Sono’s kill-crazy “Tag”, Graham pops over to Hungary for Ildiko Enyedi’s surreal love story “On Body and Soul” and Aidan takes a trip to what might possibly be Mars to put Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” under the microscope by Aidan.

We might be hard-up for cash (seriously – just check out the number of embarrassingly needy bids we make), but we’re nowhere near as desperate as Robert Pattinson is in the Safdie brothers’ new crime thriller “Good Time”. Did we have a … well, you know … with it?

Co-founder of The Geek Show Podcast Network. Chief Editor and Executive Producer of, and tangentially overburdened host/co-presenter of several shows on the network. When I'm not engaged in production, journalistic shenanigans or the quagmire that is media criticism I watch movies, interesting TV shows and anime, I also enjoy the arts (you know, classical music and stuff), write many, many things, play and collect a lot of video games, read lots of manga, comics and books, and generally enjoy wallowing in the mass of entertainment media like a hippo in mud. I can also cook.
