It’s the circle of life: movie comes out, makes money, sequels die, and a remake grows. Jon Favreau’s “The Lion King” comes under the scrutiny of Graham and Aidan this week, as well as the general trend of Disney remakes. Are there reasons for this that aren’t related to the Mouse House’s share price?

On the opposite end of the blockbuster spectrum, Off the Shelf contains two small, personal projects by maverick American auteurs. Graham hangs out with Robert Altman for Eureka Masters of Cinema’s “Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean”, while Aidan encounters the programmable artificial intelligence that is Neil Breen in “Twisted Pair”.
