We didn’t plan this as a special, but two of our three films for review this week feature Barry Foster from the original series of Van Der Valk. See if you can guess which one doesn’t as we kick off with Akira Kurosawa’s 1949 Japanese film noir Stray Dog, then move on to two British films!
After we find out who’s mad enough to steal Toshiro Mifune’s gun, Mick reviews StudioCanal’s Blu-Ray of The Family Way, a 1960s comedy-drama with Hayley Mills and her dad John. Music by some Scouse longhair called McCartney, apparently. Then Graham takes a look at Curzon Home Cinema’s Merchant-Ivory restorations, challenging his own resistance to the period-drama-dominating duo with 1987’s daring romance Maurice. Prime early Hugh Grant hair is involved.
