Alejandro Jodorowsky (Holy Mountain & Santa Sangre)

Archaeon

This week is a brand new episode, featuring a man that you could describe as the king of surrealism – he certainly has the credentials. Alejandro Jodorowsky,

A bewildering director to talk about at the best of times, but I was joined by two excellent guests – Jonathan (Kino Lorber & Second Run) and Cliff (Devil Times Five) – to talk about Holy Mountain & Santa Sangre. Before recording I was overwhelmed by a filmmaker so surreal, so packed with meaning, but in both the recording and editing of it, I wanted to rush back and watch the movies again. Mark of a great podcast, if ever there was one.

Before any of that, though, we talked about Alexander Aja holdovers, Soviet Cinema, Ruth Wilson and a movie that I’d never be able to put in the description of this episode. Never.
