Bong Joon-Ho Special – Cinema Eclectica 254

Archaeon

Final boss of the Oscars and forever king of our hearts Bong Joon-ho gets an Eclectica special to celebrate the news that Snowpiercer is finally, finally getting a physical media release in the UK from Lionsgate. Originally shot in… what, about 1872? Shortly before the invention of cinema? It’s held up well, anyway.

For the second half of the show, the hosts bring in personal favourite Bong hits, with Tim looking at his giant mutant tadpole classic The Host. For Graham, Bong became the daddy with Mother, in 2009, while Mark takes on his all-star vegetarian satire Okja. The Cannes audience’s decision to boo the Netflix logo really aged well, didn’t it? There’s also a Question of the Week celebrating great movie vehicles, and a director’s lottery for next week.
