Cinema Eclectica 126 – 999: Emergency Services Number of the Beast

Archaeon

It’s a photo negative show this week as we cover new releases instead of our usual Off the Shelf, and have a retro title as our Film of the Week. Adding to the sense of a world turned upside-down, one of the films manages to freak-out our resident horrorphile. What could it be? Is it the trailer for Patti Cake$? (It’s not, but it could have been …)

What this all means is there’s a double bill of Star Wars actors doing some interesting moonlighting with Adam Driver in “Logan Lucky” and John Boyega in “Detroit”, before we get onto our film of the week – Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Palme d’Or-winning reincarnationsploitation “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives”. There are also our recommendations to go with that film and a Question of the Week about movies that don’t know if you like or not (ah, indecision). Our listeners apparently have strong opinions on the subject – which almost goes against the whole concept of the question.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to never follow your dreams!
