Jennifer Hudson’s Floating Face – Eclectica 238

Archaeon

Cinema Eclectica is back and refreshed for 2020, and we have such sights to show you. That Hellraiser quite isn’t accidental by the way, because one of “sights” is the movie adaptation of a certain feline-based musical.

Before that though, there are two major new releases to attend to. One of them is Taika Waititi’s divisive comedy “Jojo Rabbit”, where the Kiwi director and international treasure plays a young boy’s imaginary friend, but it’s 1945 and the boy is German, so his imaginary friend is obviously Hitler. After that we have a less dicey proposition (taste-wise that is), comes with Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of “Little Women”. It’s got an all-star cast of women of assorted sizes (as well as some token men), but what did Sarah think of it?

Finally it’s Graham’s turn to suit-up and dive into the deepest point of the uncanny valley, where he discovers Tom Hooper’s against-type career swerve into seemingly-Lovecraftian horror, “Cats”.

Jason DeRulo IS Rum Tum Tugger (he says, as though he understands any of these words).
